Summer Camp Program

Ben-Adhem is a unique training and breeding farm, situated on 10 acres in Sussex Corner, New Brunswick. Our Summer Riding Camp provides an opportunity for young people to learn riding and horsemanship in a safe, exciting setting while enjoying the pleasures of a quiet country horse farm.

Our 26 years of teaching experience allow us to specialize in building confident horse and rider teams. The program at Ben-Adhem focuses on the development of a functional, versatile balance seat for our riders while emphasizing lower level dressage and eventing. Classes are taught in a creative, enthusiastic manner that makes riding fun for beginners as well as more advanced riders.

Daily lessons, stable management classes, and a choice of other horse-related activities make up much of each day. Students are encouraged to take part in the planning of each day to ensure a varied and interesting schedule.

Lessons are individualized and groups are small. Students are given the opportunity to gain the values of friendship, teamwork, and responsibility while learning discipline and sportsmanship.

Each student works with one horse throughout the camp week. Each is responsible for learning the complete care of the animal. We strive to teach our students horse care and stable management through example and practice. This enables them to work safely and competently with their horses in all aspects of horsemanship, laying the groundwork for a lifetime sport.

Camp Notes

Kids will love "horsin' around" at the fun-filled summer camps. We teach campers the basics of the care, grooming and, of course, working in the stable - friends, both two and four-footed!

Time and Place

We offer week-long camps that run through July. Students spend five consecutive days. They arrive on Sunday evening between 6:30 - 8:00 pm and depart Friday afternoon between 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Campers are housed in our house located close to the stable.

The Program

Each camper receives two riding lessons and one practical lesson per day. The program is specifically designed to incorporate the fundamentals of riding and horse care with lots of lively camp activities... swimming, field games, videos.

We'll also saddle up for trail riding toward the end of the week, depending on the weather and the ability of the riders.

Who Can Participate?

The riding camp is open to boys and girls aged six years and up.

Please note that helmets are highly recommended!
